Living your best life
Living alive – Grace-filled part 2
George Methodist Church
11th August 2019
8am and 10am
5. Living your best life ‘grace-filled’ is learning the art of being brought near.
Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. James 4:8
Practically – start with humility. I cannot do it alone but I need to get with God in this.
Fervent and frequent conversations with God. Mister God this is Anna.
Sort stuff out in your own life – repentance.
Get together with others.
6. Living your best life is understanding that we don’t do this alone, but that we are united together with others to create community.
The collective encouragement comes when we gather together. We share stories. We are accountable to each other. We see the change. Strava and Parkruns etc…
7. Living your best life is being a dwelling in which God’s Spirit is happy to dwell in.
What kind of dwelling are we creating for God?
John 1:14 -The word became flesh and dwelt among us and we saw His Glory.
When we begin to create a dwelling where God is able to dwell then His Spirit dwells there. It is tangible. I was speaking to someone after the Parkrun on Saturday who visited our church and they said that as they entered and experienced communion the Holy Spirit was here at GMC.
What about our homes and our businesses? The Spar in Wellington Street at 7.30 am plays worship songs over the loudspeaker.
How is our ‘dwelling’ for God personally? Does He inhabit you – fill you and do you allow him to fill you up again each week, because, like me, we all leak.
May we go from this place and be alive in our Christianity.
Acknowledge that grace brings us to do what we do for Jesus.
Know that you are His handiwork designed to do good things which God has prepared in advance for you to do (predistined for good.)
Don’t do it alone, do it with the community God has called you to be part of.
Allow yourself daily to get closer to God and He will get closer to you.
Do it together – ARE WE TOGETHER?
